Grant Prattley

Grant has been professionally involved in rescue since the early 90s, initially in ski patrol and then leading the Aoraki / Mt Cook Alpine Rescue Team for fourteen years Grant was one of the founders of Search and Rescue Institute New Zealand – SARINZ– (now LandSAR Training) and then worked as the Rescue Programme Manager for ten years. He is a qualified Level 2 Canyoning Guide with NZOIA and established, managed and guided at Big Rock Canyons in Canterbury, NZ for serveral years. He is a member of the NZ Canyoning Association Executive helping keep recreational canyoning vibrant in New Zealand. His passion is to simplify complex technical information so you can perform under pressure. He is the author of Alpine Rescue Techniques, Rope Rescue and Rigging Field Guide and the Canyoning Technical Manual. Grant is the founder of Over the Edge Rescue which develops custom publications, undertakes consulting and delivers training courses (overtheedgerescue.com).  Grant has expanded his skills and experience from the mountains and rock to include expertise in the caving and canyoning environments. He loves to share his knowledge as a trainer and consultant, and each year spreads the word in New Zealand, Australia and the world.
